there it is- jayne cortez

In this poem Jayne Cortez uses a powerful structure to get her point across. In so many words she expressed a whole era of oppression and fighting for rights. She uses strong imagery and shows a very strong passion, most likely from experience, and makes me want to stand up for every right that I have. These types of poems give you a certain sensibility of wanting to do better, to work against abuse and all types of oppression.

  1. Yes, but what specifically about the imagery and structure? What is the significance of beginning the poem in medias res (check dictionary.com, wikipedia, et.)--as if in the middle or perhaps as the conclusion of a larger disussion/public speeh/existential situation etc.? Also, what about specific image details such as "exaggerated look," "Stylized look," "decomposed look"...?
And, yes, you should ocmment on the public mood of address the poem takes--what are the rhetorial features of this?--and signifiance of the last line, of course.
